The year started well, I was happy to be making a positive start with some great jobs even though the recession is biting.

But last week I found out my cat Shmitten had cancer and yesterday she died. I loved her so very much and she will be so badly missed. A little piece of me is gone today.

I love you sweetpea, rest in peace baby.

sheeeeesh! where did that year go? 08 is also the ammont of months since I last updated this journal ... so lazy!

It was a good year all in all (apart from the shit weather), had some great jobs in both my illustrative and photographic styles ( [link] )

I have rouded off the year with some great editorial jobs for the likes of Arena, GQ, Fortean times and Mojo magazines ... I just love editorial. Arena has constantly found mad subjects for me to illustrate including ahem! anal sex, divorce, transvestite bikers and dick cheney with GQ not to be outdone presenting me with sexual frustration and (really there is such a thing) nude female sexual adult wrestling! Fortean Times is just great and I was secretly rather chuft with the illustration I have just done for them. Can't say too much about the Mojo job as it's not on the selves yet, but I got to hear a sneak preview of a new song which will lodge in your brain & refuse to budge.

I have been a bit of a media whore this year appearing in Advanced photoshop, design week, 3x3, creative quarterly, computer arts (spiral), new york arts (spiral) with appearances coming up in two illustration books in 09 'the atlas of illustration' and ' the big book of contemporary illustration'and a plethora of online magazines. For someone who gripes about celebrity it's really not on!

New erotic study ready for posting - second image with Nesis - [link] that should go up soon.

Have great 2009 all! and thanks for watching.

sorry!

For not replying and generally neglecting you all! I will eventually get around to it but I have been mad busy of late, one of the busiest periods I have known and all advertising work just recently which tends to be a little higher pressure than the editorial & book cover commissions.

It's been an international journey too working for an array of great clients in the UK, USA and Austria. If you live in London you may spot posters in the underground and on taxis & buses for 'wizard of oz' ... it was a job for my 'spiral' persona [link] and saw the style head down an unusually bright path (yellow actually). The US job was very exiting, again for spiral.

You can (if you are so inclined:) ) read an interview with yours truly in Advanced Photoshop magazine this month. Also 3x3mag and creative quarterly.

Spiral also makes an appearance in New York Arts magazine.

If you have sent me some photography to work with I have not forgotten you! I am itching to get started on some of those but just need to tame my logjam of work before I get started on the personal pieces.

If you fancy a big signed print of the cutler stag ltd edition (only 10 folks) you can get one here - [link]

 to you all!

You know you want to

Of late my erotic study series has been heading in the direction of finding models from here and I quite like that so if you fancy appearing in one let me know, I would love to collaborate with models & photographers for this series.

The only request I have is that any supplied photography is not stock and is created for the illustration and is in that respect a true collaboration.

I would need a high res file.

The series is erotic so should have an erotic edge but that does not mean it has to include nudity, the right clothes cam be incredibly sexy.

Please bring a little of yourself to it, send me in new directions.

Also, for those of you not inclined to populate my erotic manifestations, I would love to do some portraits. Portraits of artists ... I would love to start a series like that so if you are interested in that I would love to hear from you. I have a couple of people in mind but as the notes are not working ?!?!?!?

It would work like this ... artist submits a highres photo and a photo of a single object that is personal to them (I would be happy to do the photography if you can get to Cornwall)

A little addition to this journal.

It occurs to me that DA should have an 'illustration' section to it ... in it's own right (not 'drawing & illustration' that narrows the field way too much and suggests a lack of depth of understanding of what illustration actually is) it should be a section in it's own right that then narrows down to drawn / digital / technical / photo-illustration / children / sequential / fashion ... ect

I think DA can not ignore one of the largest and in my opinion greatest fields of art & design, and one that is enjoying a boom in practitioners.

What d'you reckon?

I recently had two pieces included in a collective exhibition 'consequences' along side some incredibly talented artists. The concept was that each artist submit an A2 panel, the horizon of which ran through the entire instillation.

You can get the idea if you take a peek at [link] which is the image I submitted for my spiral alter ego and then place it next to [link] (with this one on the right) see, the horizon joins up as did the other 60 images!

Anyway the exhibition is now moving on from the original gallery and is at the lovely illustration gallery in stroud. If you live near by go have a peek! ... *** [link] ***
